(Wednesday, August 13, 2008) -- For the second match in a row, the United States was undone by a mental error. Largely as a result of defender Michael Orozco's red card in the third minute, the Americans were shorthanded throughout a 2-1 Group B loss to Nigeria that eliminated the U.S. from the advancement to the Summer Olympics quarterfinals.   Full story

(Monday, August 11, 2008) -- The United States was seconds away from am electrifying 2-1 victory yesterday over the heavily favored Netherlands and advancement to the quarterfinals from the Men's Olympic Tournament Group B in Tianjin, China when a pair of dreadful mental mistakes allowed a Dutch goal in the final seconds. Instead of taking three points for a victory, the U.S. wound up with only one for a 2-2 draw.   Full story

(Sunday, March 23, 2008) -- American Marcus Hahnemann is the busiest goalkeeper in the English Premier League and Reading is thankful for his labor. Hahnemann, whose 213 saves are the most in the EPL, stopped eight shots Saturday for the Royals who defeated visiting Birmingham City 2-1, adding three crucial points in their effort to put distance on the relegation zone.   Full story

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Monday, February 25, 2008) -- Philadelphia will become Major League Soccer's 16th franchise with the official announcement now tentatively set for Thursday.
